How to upload a Tesla Paint Shop wrap with the Tesla app

Tesla's current custom-wraps instructions include a mobile transfer path. With Tesla app 4.59.0 or later, you can open Creations -> Wrap -> Upload, send a compatible PNG, and then choose it from Paint Shop in the vehicle.

Quick answer

Update the Tesla app to version 4.59.0 or later.

Prepare a real PNG from 512x512 to 1024x1024 pixels and no larger than 1 MB.

In the Tesla app, open Creations -> Wrap -> Upload and choose the PNG.

In the vehicle, open Toybox -> Paint Shop -> Wraps and select the uploaded design.

Upload and apply the wrap

Check the PNG before uploading

The app does not remove Paint Shop's file requirements. Start with the template for the exact vehicle, keep its canvas intact, and export a genuine PNG rather than renaming another format.

  • Use 512x512 to 1024x1024 pixels and keep the file at or below 1 MB.
  • Use letters, numbers, underscores, dashes, or spaces in a filename of no more than 30 characters.
  • The mobile app accepts up to 10 wrap files.

Upload from the Tesla app

In Tesla app 4.59.0 or later, open Creations, choose Wrap, and then tap Upload. Select the finished PNG from your phone and wait for the transfer to finish before checking the vehicle.

  • If the path is missing, confirm the app version first.
  • The app and USB drive each support up to 10 wrap files.
  • Keep the USB method available as a fallback rather than repeatedly renaming the same file.

Choose the wrap in Paint Shop

Uploading the file does not apply it automatically. In the vehicle, open Toybox -> Paint Shop -> Wraps, wait for the design to appear, and select it for the 3D vehicle visualization.

  • Use the template that matches the exact model and body version.
  • If the image appears distorted, return to the source template instead of stretching the PNG.
  • If the app route is unavailable, transfer the same compliant PNG with a root-level USB Wraps folder.

Tesla app wrap upload questions

Which Tesla app version supports wrap uploads?

Tesla's current custom-wraps instructions specify mobile app version 4.59.0 or later and the path Creations -> Wrap -> Upload.

Do I still need a USB drive?

Not when the upload option is available in your Tesla app. A USB drive remains a supported alternative and is useful when the app menu is not available.

Why can I not see Creations or Wrap in the app?

Check that the app is version 4.59.0 or later. If the upload option is still unavailable, use the supported USB transfer method.

Does the uploaded wrap apply to the car automatically?

No. After the upload, select the design in Toybox -> Paint Shop -> Wraps on the vehicle touchscreen. It changes the 3D vehicle visualization, not the physical paint or vinyl.
