Tesla Paint Shop troubleshooting: template not showing, USB not recognized, distorted image

If the Wraps list is empty, the USB drive is not detected, or the image looks wrong, start with path, format, file size, and model-template checks.

Check these first

Confirm the USB format is exFAT, FAT32, MS-DOS FAT, ext3, or ext4.

Confirm Wraps is at the USB root and uses uppercase W.

Confirm the PNG is 512x512 to 1024x1024 px and under 1 MB.

Confirm the file uses the correct Tesla model template.

Troubleshooting path

Template does not appear in Paint Shop

Most cases come from folder location, USB format, file size, or filename issues. Test with one official-source blank PNG first.

  • Only place one official-source PNG on the drive.
  • Confirm the path is /Wraps/filename.png.
  • Reinsert the USB drive and wait a few seconds.

USB drive is not recognized

If the vehicle cannot read the USB drive at all, isolate format and port issues before changing the image file.

  • Reformat as exFAT or FAT32.
  • Try the glovebox USB port.
  • Test with another moderate-capacity USB drive.

Image looks distorted or misplaced

This is usually a model mismatch or a changed canvas, not a USB path issue.

  • Download the exact vehicle template again.
  • Do not crop or resize the template canvas.
  • Separate Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X, and model-year variants.

FAQ

What if an official-source template does not show either?

Test with only one blank official-source PNG, verify USB format and Wraps path, then check vehicle software and USB port.

The file opens on my computer. Why not in the car?

A file opening on your computer does not prove Paint Shop compatibility. Check file size, filename, folder path, and real PNG encoding.

Does this mean the site template is broken?

Not necessarily. Use an official-source blank template as the control test first, then inspect the specific template.
