PNG requirements

Tesla Paint Shop PNG requirements: size, format, filenames, and model fit

Use this checklist before copying a wrap PNG to the USB Wraps folder: check size, file type, file size, filename, and the exact Tesla model template.

Quick requirements

Export a real PNG file; do not only rename a JPG or WebP extension.

Use 512x512 to 1024x1024 px and keep the original template canvas whenever possible.

Keep each file under 1 MB and place no more than 10 wrap files at a time.

Use English letters, numbers, underscores, or hyphens in the filename.

Detailed requirements

Image format and size

Tesla custom-wraps documentation asks for PNG output from 512x512 to 1024x1024 pixels. For best results, start from the official-source template for your exact vehicle and keep the original canvas intact.

  • Export as PNG.
  • Keep a 1:1 canvas.
  • Do not use a preview screenshot as the wrap file.

File size and count

Paint Shop expects lightweight files. Oversized images or too many files can stop the vehicle from loading the wrap list.

  • Keep each PNG under 1 MB.
  • Use up to 10 files at a time.
  • Remove older test files while troubleshooting.

Filename and model match

Files downloaded from this site use safe English naming where possible. If you export your own file, avoid special characters and confirm the template matches your Tesla model.

  • Use letters, numbers, underscores, or hyphens.
  • Do not mix templates between models.
  • Use the Model S / Model X official-source pages when those variants match your vehicle.

FAQ

Can I just rename a file to .png?

No. Export the file as a real PNG from your image editor or conversion tool.

Why does my image look distorted?

The template may not match your vehicle, or the canvas may have been resized. Go back to the exact model template and export again.

Can the filename use non-English characters?

It is safer not to. Use English letters, numbers, underscores, or hyphens to reduce in-car reading issues.
